Sadie Stark (Sr., Milliken, Colorado) scored the game winner in the 53rd minute, earning three conference points for the Mountaineers in their hunt to make the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference playoffs.
Western (6-5-2, 3-4-1 RMAC) dominated play from start to finish. The Mountaineer defense held CMU (1-9-3, 1-6-2 RMAC) to one shot in the first half and just four in the second half. Goalkeeper
Katie Simpson-Johnson (RSo., Boulder, Colorado) earned a shutout for Western, making three saves in the match.
Despite Western controlling the play in the first half, the Mountaineers and CMU went into the break tied 0-0.
Just eight minutes into the second half, Stark took a clearance and carried the ball for nearly 40 yards before chipping the Maverick keeper from the right side of the penalty box, scoring the only goal of the match.

Samantha Braun (Sr., Salt Lake City, Utah) led the match with two shots each.
The Mountaineers will continue the season next Sunday when they host UC-Colorado Springs at 1 p.m. in Western's Pink Game.
