GUNNISON, Colo. - Western State Colorado University's
Sydnie Lengyel (So., Tempe, Arizona) scored 17 points, but it wasn't enough as the Mountaineer women's basketball team fell to Regis University 76-51 Friday night.
Western (4-12, 3-9 RMAC) clutched to a lead for the for the first 3:20 of the game. Â Regis (11-5, 7-5 RMAC) then took command of the lead. Â The Rangers continued to build their lead and were ahead 19 points at the break.
The Mountaineers were unable to cut into the Regis lead in the second half, and fell 76-51.
Lengyel led all players in scoring with 17 points. Â The forward also pulled down a team high nine rebounds.
Western's
Jade McIntosh (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colorado) scored five points Friday night and now sits just 17 points away from 1,000 points scored in her career.
The Mountaineers will face Metro State University Denver on Saturday night in the final game of the home stand.
