GUNNISON, Colo. - After winning the home opener on Friday night, Western State Colorado University women's basketball remained undefeated in Paul Wright Gym.  The Mountaineers defeated Western New Mexico University 75-64 Saturday night in Gunnison.

WNMU (4-3, 2-2 RMAC) got out to an quick start in the first half.  Western (3-5, 2-2 RMAC) found themselves trailing 8-2 before two minutes had elapsed off the clock.  However, the Mountaineers would get back on their feet and lead the Lady Mustangs four minutes later, 12-11.

Western continued to build their lead and took a first-half high nine point lead into halftime.

Scoring 40 points on 55.6 percent shooting (15-of-27) in the first half, the Mountaineer offense was clicking.  For the game, Western shot 50 percent (26-of-52) from the field, a season high for the Mountaineers.

Western played consistent in the second half, never letting the lead slip below four points.

The Mountaineers ended the game on a 5-0 run, earning their second consecutive victory and their second Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference win.

Four Mountaineers scored in double figures, led by Sydnie Lengyel (So., Tempe, Arizona).  Lengyel scored a game high 15 points, while teammates Ajai Ford (Jr., Los Angeles, California) and Jade McIntosh (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colorado) each contributed 11 points.  Stephanie Williams (RFr., Cerritos, California) also added 10 points for Western.

The Mountaineers will continue the season next weekend when they travel rivals Adams State University and Fort Lewis College.
