GUNNISON, Colo. - With nine matches completed and nine still to play, the Western State Colorado University women's soccer team is still unbeaten in 2014.  The Mountaineers kept their unblemished record alive on Friday.  Western played Colorado Mesa University to a scoreless draw, earning one point for the effort.

A large part of the Mountaineers unbeaten streak is due to the Western defense.  The Mountaineers have held opponents scoreless in 7-of-9 matches this season.

Western (5-0-4, 2-0-3 RMAC) and CMU (0-6-3, 0-3-2 RMAC) were neck and neck throughout the match.  Neither team able to assert any sort of dominance for long stretches at a time.

With the tie against CMU , Western recorded their fourth scoreless draw of the season.  Western goalkeeper Meghan Jedzrejewski (Jr., Longmont, Colorado) has been in net for all seven of those matches.  Jedzrejewski made four saves in the match, many at crucial times.

After a streak of 634:01 without a goal against already this season, Jedrzejewski began a new streak and is currently at 189:17.

The Mavericks outshot the Mountaineers 14-9 in the match, outshooting Western 4-to-1 in the first half and first half of overtime.

The Mountaineer offense struggled to click in the match, putting only one shot on goal.  However, always dangerous on set pieces, the Mountaineers earned two more corner kicks than the Mavericks.

Western will continue the homestand on Sunday with a match against New Mexico Highlands University at 1 p.m. on Gateway Field.
