GUNNISON, Colo. - A late second half surge gave Western State Colorado University a goal, however the UC-Colorado Springs Mountain Lions survived the comeback and took a 2-1 victory.
Western (5-4-4, 2-4-3 RMAC) was unable to gain much control of the match in the first half.  UC-Colorado Springs (6-6, 5-4 RMAC) took advantage on the road and scored a 26th minute goal to open the scoring.
The Mountain Lions outshot the Mountaineers 10-6 in the first half.
The Mountaineers regained control in the second half as the Mountain Lions attempted to keep Western at bay.  However, in the 66th minute, UC-Colorado Springs caught a break and scored their second goal of the match.
Down 2-0 in the second half, Western picked up the frantic pace, eventually breaking through for an 83rd minute goal by 
Nicole Giebler (Fr., Aurora, Colorado).  It would prove to be too little too late for Western, as UC-Colorado Springs earned their sixth win of the season.
The Mountaineers outshot the Mountain Lions 11-6 in the second half.

The Mountaineers will play their final home match of the season Sunday at 1 p.m. against Colorado Christian University.
