GUNNISON, Colo.  Western Colorado student-athletes continued their trend of erasing previous records set in the classroom, posting a new department-high 3.50 grade-point average for the Spring 2025 term.

Mountaineer student-athletes registered a then-record 3.44 GPA for the Fall 2024 term. The two semesters combined for a 3.46 academic year GPA, which is also a new record for the department.

Western's volleyball team, with a 3.87 GPA, and men's cross country team (3.48) posted the highest spring-term GPAs of the 13 varsity sports' respective genders.

Impacting the record GPA for the spring were the 64 student-athletes who posted perfect 4.00 GPAs. Women's soccer and women's cross country earned the most individual 4.00 GPAs with 12 and 11, respectively.
