Brittanie Taylor-James

Brittanie Taylor-James begins her first season as the Western State Colorado University assistant women's basketball coach in 2015.

Prior to Western, Taylor-James spent three years as assistant coach for the Grambling State University Women’s Basketball Team. Brittanie’s coaching duties included player development, practice and game-day preparation, as well as coordinating the team’s Community Service activities.
 
After transferring from the University of California at Santa Barbara, Taylor-James was a three year starting guard/forward at North Carolina A&T State University, for SWAC Hall of Fame Coach Patricia Cage-Bibbs. Brittanie helped lead the Aggies to their first back-to-back 25 plus game winning seasons, first back-to-back MEAC regular season championships, first back-to-back post season appearances, and the highest NCAA tournament seed for any MEAC team.
 
In her senior year, Taylor-James set a single season scoring record (623 points) and finished the season as the 26th leading scorer in the nation (18.9 ppg). She earned the Heritage Sports Network Player of the Year Award and was a Women's Basketball Coaches Association National Player of the Month Honorable Mention. Taylor-James ended her successful collegiate career by earning the Senior Athlete of the Year Award, Female Athlete of the Year Award, the prestigious Hall of Fame Award, and the 2009 MEAC Player of the Year Award. Taylor-James continues to rank in the Top 5 of the North Carolina A&T Lady Aggies all-time scorers.

After college, Taylor-James was a WNBA draft prospect. She went on to have a successful professional playing career in Europe, playing in Finland, Croatia, Holland, and Portugal.
 
Taylor-James played high school basketball at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, Illinois. As a senior, she was ranked No. 211 among all high school seniors by All-Star Girls Report. Additionally, Taylor-James holds high school records for single-game scoring (33); single-game 3-pointers (7); and season-high free throws (85%).
 
Taylor-James graduated from North Carolina A & T State University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts (Cultural Change and Social Development). She is currently enrolled at the University of Missouri. She is set to graduate in May 2016, with a Master of Education, in Educational, School and Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis in Positive Coaching.
