Alvin Nyangau enters his first season with the women's basketball program in the fall of 2023. Nyangau joins the Mountaineer staff after stints at Northern State, North Dakota State University Men’s Basketball, and Upper Iowa University. 

Most recently, Nyangau was an assistant coach at Northern State, he oversaw defensive game prep, practice prep, player development of the guards / wings, and travel logistics.  

While on staff at NDSU, Nyangau served as the Director of Basketball Operations.

While on staff at UIU, he oversaw multiple areas of the program including recruiting, defensive game prep, academics, equipment, team travel, and campus visits. In addition, Nyangau oversaw the guards, wings, and managed team social media accounts. 

Nyangau began his coaching career as an assistant at Orono Public Schools (Minnesota). While working towards his bachelor’s degree, Nyangau was a student manager for the North Dakota State University women’s basketball program. He earned his bachelor of science in Sport Management from North Dakota State and Master’s in Sport Administration from Upper Iowa University.
