Yuriy Litvinski

Litvinski begins his fourth season with the Mountaineer track and field program with a focus on the horizontal jumps and sprints in 2013.  Litvinski also runs the Mountaineer track and field strength and conditioning program.

Litvinski has coached many Western student-athlete national qualifiers and in 2012 coached Akil Gipson to an All-American performance in the triple-jump.

Litvinski spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Central Missouri as the primary coach for the horizontal jumps and an assistant coach with sprinters and multi-event athletes. He coached four All-Americans between the long and triple jumps, two school records in the women’s triple jump for the indoor and outdoor seasons, and three MIAA champions in the long and triple jump.

Litvinski also served as the head strength and conditioning coach for the Mules and Jennies and assisted with travel operations. He was the primary recruiter for international student-athletes.

Litvinski began his coaching career as a volunteer assistant at Northern Iowa and helped coach two All-Americans in the decathlon. He was an All-American in 2006 and a three-time Division I national qualifier for the Panthers during his undergraduate career. Litvinksi won two Missouri Valley Conference titles and holds the Northern Iowa record in both the indoor and outdoor triple jump.

Litvinksi also competed for his home country of Bulgaria, winning six national titles. He placed second in the triple jump at the 2002 European Cup and sixth at the European Championships in 2003 with a personal best 54-4.

Litvinski graduated from Northern Iowa with a bachelor's degree in exercise science with a coaching minor. He graduated Central Missouri with a master's degree in physical education, sport and exercise science. Along with holding a USATF Level I certification, Litvinski is a certified National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
