Zach Walsh

In November of 2021, Walsh took over as the new Esports and Video Coordinator for Western Colorado University. With the Esports program in it's fourth year, Walsh oversees roughly 40 student-athletes over five game titles as they compete in two national leagues. Along with taking over the responsibilities for the football video board and overseeing camera operators for NCAA sports.  

In his second full year as Assistant Sports Information Director in 2020-21, Walsh helped the communications department to a second-place finish in the RMAC J.W. Campbell/Con Marshall Sports Information Department of the Year voting, the top finish ever by Western Colorado. The year before he helped the Mountaineers to a third-place finish in the RMAC J.W. Campbell/Con Marshall Sports Information Department of the Year - Western's first top-three finish. Walsh has helped the Mountaineers to a nearly 50 percent increase in all social media platforms in two years while increasing viewership for Mountaineer online streamed games by nearly 50 percent across the board. Walsh was responsible for the communication efforts of cross country, volleyball, swimming and diving, track and field and esports to go along with being in charge of all home broadcast of Mountaineers events.

Walsh, a 2018 Western graduate, spent the fall semester of 2018-19 in an internship role with the Western communications department before being hired full time in January of 2019. His duties included overseeing football video board content and replay, updating records, preparing content for game operations, and assisting with home events among various other tasks.
 
The Basalt, Colorado, native came to Western in 2015 as a distance runner for the Mountaineer cross country and track & field teams.
 
Walsh graduated in 2018 from Western Colorado with degrees in exercise and sport science and business administration.
