LAS VEGAS, N.M. Right from the first two matches things never looked in doubt as Western Colorado rolled to a 32-10 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory Friday night over host New Mexico Highlands.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Devin Gomez and Zachary Bates got the Mountaineers off to the start they needed, sixth-ranked Gomez winning an 8-5 decision at 125 pounds and Bates earning a 13-2 major decision at 133 for a 7-0 lead on the team scoreboard.
- Highlands tried to battle back with a decision at 141 but Eyan Chavez pushed back with a pair of third-period takedowns for an eventual 14-4 major at 149, followed by a dominating 20-4 second period tech fall by 11th-ranked Vincent Cabral at 157.
- The Cowboys earned a major at 165 but Miles Harris picked up the first of consecutive pins by the Mountaineers, earning his off a reversal in the second period at 174, and Hunter Richardson making quick work of his opponent at 184 with a first period fall at 184.
- Riley Butt finished off the dual with a 13-5 major at 285 to provide Western with the final 22-point victory for the Mountaineers' 19th consecutive win over the Cowboys.

Western has a challenging RMAC week ahead with a home dual Feb. 5 against No. 17 Chadron State and a road dual the next night at No. 16 Adams State.
