GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Western Colorado goalkeeper
Ashlyn Fitzpatrick finished with eight saves Saturday night against Northwest Nazarene (Idaho) University, but the Nighthawks scored twice early in the game to earn a 2-0 non-conference win over the Mountaineers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Nighthawks scored on their first shot of the game in the fifth minute, then doubled Western's deficit on NNU's next shot in the 12th.
- From that point forward, Fitzpatrick kept the Mountaineers in the game, making eight consecutive saves over the remaining 78 minutes to keep Western close.
- The Mountaineers were outshot 11-4 in the opening 45 minutes, but gained the advantage in shots, 10-7, over second-half action, but were unable to cut into the two-goal hole from early in the game.
UP NEXT
The Mountaineers will close out their non-conference slate at home with the next two games on their schedule, matching up with Cal State San Bernardino at Katy O. Rady Field on Sept. 19 before taking on visiting Nebraska-Kearney two days later.
