HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- The Mountaineers and the Wolves traded jabs across first-quarter action, WOU taking a narrow 15-13 edge into the second frame.Â
- Tied at 20-20 in the second, the Wolves dropped in a 3-pointer at the 6:32 mark of the quarter, forging an advantage it would not relinquish for quite awhile.Â
- Western Oregon on several occasions built its lead to seven points, but a trey from Natalie Jojola nearing the end of the third quarter inched Western to within four, 48-44, heading into the final frame.Â
- The Mountaineers pulled to within a point on three occasions in the early minutes of the fourth, the third time on a Brooklyn Seymour layup at the 7:22 mark.Â
- Rachel Cockman's defensive rebound on the Wolves' next possession transitioned to a Jayda Maves jumper that pushed Western in front, 54-53, at the 6:22 mark –– erasing a Western Oregon lead that it had held for more than 20 minutes.Â
- The teams then traded the lead three times until a Cockman layup put the Mountaineers ahead for good at 58-57.Â
- A Maves 3-pointer extended the lead, which grew to seven in the final minute before the Wolves would stage a rally that would fall short.Â
