Semien Named to Mountaineer Athletics Compliance Role

GUNNISON, Colo.  Western Colorado University Director of Athletics Miles Van Hee is pleased to announce the hiring of Quandanique "Que" Semien as the department's new Compliance Director.

"We are excited to have Que step into this vital role within our athletics department," said Director of Athletics Miles Van Hee. "Her background enables Que to draw from multiple experiences in helping our coaches and student-athletes understand and navigate the complexities of NCAA compliance."

Que, pronounced 'Q,' previously worked at her alma mater, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, as the Islanders' Compliance Assistant.

She received her bachelor's degree in sports management in 2020, working in the athletics department as a gameday operations coordinator during her undergraduate days.

Upon graduation Que joined a startup company, Boozy Bites by Prim Improper, in Austin, Texas, as its operations manager and office administrator where she helped the company refine day-to-day operations. She was the initial point of contact with customers and helped increase production units by more than 4000 percent in just one year's time.

Semien moved on to the Central Texas Dispute Resolution Center in San Marcos, coordinating mediations and client meetings while also completing final documents for clients that included official memoranda and billing.

Having worked in customer service, operations, and mediation, Semien put those experiences together with her eventual move to compliance back at her alma mater.

"I am excited to be a Mountaineer," said Semien, "and look forward to contributing to the success of Western Colorado University!"

Semien will begin her position at Western Colorado on August 14.
