Position Summary:Â Western is seeking an experienced professional for Deputy Director of NCAA Athletics.
Job Description:
Responsibilities: The Deputy Athletics Director reports to the Athletics Director. This position directly supervises offices and personnel which manage the following functions: athletics communication, athletics facilities and events, business operations, compliance and conference and event services. The Deputy Athletics Director is a full-time professional that will be responsible for assisting the Director of Athletics in the overall management, supervision, and leadership of the department. The position also provides leadership to assigned primary intercollegiate athletics functions, including but not limited to conference & event services, human resources, facility operations, compliance, business operations, risk management, marketing, communications, and engagement.
The position will supervise coaches and the day-to-day management of assigned varsity teams in alignment with department sport supervisor expectations. They also provide supporting leadership/oversight to additional department areas, including but not limited to medical services, student-athlete welfare, athletic conference compliance, academic success, and Title IX compliance.
In addition to excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills the Deputy Athletics Director will exhibit qualities of emotional maturity, genuineness, self-confidence, common sense and good judgment. This person should also possess the ability to make good, consistent and fair decisions based on available information as well as to be able to work with cross-functional teams and to foster teamwork.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related field. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to support significant evening and weekend work. Professional attitude. Excellent customer service. Ability to work with cross functional teams and to foster teamwork. Excellent interpersonal skills· Self-motivation and initiative necessary. Minimum of at least three years in Intercollegiate Athletics, Higher Education, Professional sports or applicable leadership business/industry role.
Minimum of three years overseeing support staff. Experience working efficiently with student-athletes, coaches, and officials. Experience working in a higher education setting. A current valid driver's license is required.
Preferred Qualifications:Â Master's degree in a related field. Good judgment, personal integrity, and honesty. Creativity and innovation; ability to work independently and collaboratively. Proficient in computer software including Microsoft Office suite, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), etc. Minimum of at least five years in Intercollegiate Athletics, Higher Education, Professional sports or applicable leadership business/industry role. Minimum of five years overseeing support staff. Experience in and understanding of all reports and forms required by NCAA and RMAC rules and guidelines. Three or more years overseeing professional or support staff. Three or more years of managing a team, department, or equivalent organization's budget. Working knowledge of Workday. Working knowledge of Arms. Demonstrated experience and skills in event planning and management, facilities management, and student staff supervision.
Compensation:Â This is a full-time, twelve-month position with an initial base salary range of $70,000-$90,000. Position is eligible for an excellent benefits package including health and dental insurance plans with low co-pays and low out-of-pocket maximums, generous paid time off, a shared contribution retirement plan, and, following one year of employment, tuition benefits.
