WESTLAKE, Ohio The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics on Thursday morning released the LEARFIELD Directors' Cup final standings of the NCAA Division II fall sports season, a ranking that sees Western Colorado 15th with 180.0 points.
The Mountaineers accrued 80 points from women's cross country's fourth-place finish at the national championship meet, 75 points from men's cross country's fifth-place finish at nationals, and 25 points from football's run into the NCAA postseason tournament.
Western finished the fall season in 30th place (136.5 points) in the 2022-23 race for the Directors' Cup, closing out the year also in 30th place (435.5 pts.) – an improvement from 67th place after the 2021-22 campaign.
Grand Valley State University tops the Fall 2023 standings with 365.0 points, and three other Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schools are within the top 15 rankings.
