HOW IT HAPPENEDĀ 

  • Both MSU Denver and Western Colorado shared similarĀ possession times in the first half, but the Roadrunners took the lead as Emi Matalon was able to find the back of the net off an assist from Taryn O'Brien and Monica Yoder. Ā 

  • Reece Mercer came in as a sub in the second half and put the Mountaineers on the board by shooting a goal 62 minutes into the game off a pass from Abby Raio. Ā 

  • A Western Colorado corner kick set up the Mountaineers second goal of the game, where once the ball came in Caileen Sienknecht was able to pass the ball to Mary Wilson for her first goal of the season. Ā 

  • The roadrunners regained possession and Brooklyn Gold was able to find a solid pass from Madrid Mack to tie the match with two and half minutes left. Ā 

TURF NOTESĀ 

  • Even though both teams were evenly matched in possession time in the first half, MSU Denver out shot the Mountaineers 11-4. Even though the Mountaineers scored twice in the second half, they only put up 11 shots to the Roadrunners 13. Ā 

  • Mei Hayashizaki made saves left and right for the Mountaineers registering eight saves in the game with four in each half. Ā 

  • Mercer provided a lot of pressure recording a match-high three shots in the match, Raio, Wilson and Laura Pelino all collected two shots for the Mountaineers. Ā

The Mountaineers will continue their home stand with a match against Colorado Christian on Sunday, Oct. 29., at Katy O.Rady Field. Ā
