COLORADO SPRING, Colo. The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference on Tuesday afternoon announced that Western Colorado's
Hunter Mullin has been named the league's Wrestler of the Week.
The redshirt-senior went unbeaten Saturday at the UNK Midwest Duals, winning matches in bouts at 165 against the Nos. 1, 3 and 17 teams in the National Wrestling Coaches Association rankings.
Mullin opened the day with a commanding 18-4 major decision during No. 23 Western's match against top-ranked Central Oklahoma.
The Mountaineers' second dual was against No. 3 and host Nebraska-Kearney, and once again Mullin registered a major decision, this time dominating his Loper opponent by a count of 9-1.
His final match win came during Western's upset victory over 17th-ranked Fort Hays State (Kan.). Mullin built a lead over the first two periods then ended the match with a pin at the 6:05 mark.
Mullin is 15-5 this season and has won seven consecutive matches, one by fall, two by technical falls, three by majors and one by decision.
