GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.  Western Colorado built off the momentum they had coming off Friday tie against Dominguez Hills and picked up their first win of the season defeating University of Nebraska at Kearney 1-0.

Records: Western Colorado 1-2-1, Univ. of Neb. at Kearney 0-3-1.
Location: Community Hospital Unity Field; Grand Junction, Colo.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • It was an action packed. Yet, defensive game to start – until Nebraska Kearney had a costly turnover just outside the penalty box, which Brenna Wolfe made sure to capitalize on tapping the ball over the goalkeeper into the top right of the goal (44:36).
  • At halftime the Mountaineers led 1-0, in large part thanks to Alex Peralta who was saving shots left and right, finishing the first half with five saves.
  • Western Colorado defense locked up the Loopers offense, only allowing them to get one shot on goal – for the remainder of the game - which once again was saved by Peralta and was the best save of the game.
  • At the 76:28 mark, Peralta made a diving save, a few feet away from the Loopers attacker – which unknowingly at the time was key since it was Nebraska Kearney final shot on goal of the game.
