GUNNISON, Colo.  Western Colorado will look to pick up their fourth and fifth conference win this weekend, when they host New Mexico Highlands (Sep. 30) and Colorado Christian (Oct. 2).
 
MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
  • Western is coming off a tough 0-1 loss to Adams State. However, has looked solid on film and appears to be getting better as the season progresses. With the loss the Mountaineers are tied for eighth (1-2) in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings. 
  • It has been a team effort when it comes to scoring, resulting in seven players – Taylor Bottoms, Kylie Hickox, Natasha Kasozi, Reece Mercer, Sarah Connolly, Desiree Trinidad-Gonzalez, and Brenna Wolfe – each having one goal apiece.
  • Aubree Orosco and Alex Peralta have been the goalkeepers for Western this season – Orosco having 24 saves (.750 save percentage) while Peralta has 22 saves (.688 save percentage).
COWGIRLS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
  • Things haven't gone the Cowgirls way this season, as they are still searching for their first win, nine games into the season. New Mexico Highlands is currently in last play in the RMAC standings with a 0-4 conference record.
  • So far this season, Jenny Mueller and Melissa Olivares are the only two players to score a goal each having one goal apiece.
  • Isabella Ortiz has been the main goalkeeper for the Cowgirls, recording 36 saves over the course of the season.
COUGARS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
  • Colorado Christian is riding a two-game winning streak heading into the weekend after defeating Adams State (2-0) and New Mexico Highlands (3-0). The Cougars are currently in sixth place with a 2-2 overall RMAC record – losing to Black Hills (0-1) and MSU Denver (0-2).
  • Saige Stock and Skylee Deladurantaye have been the main goal scorers for Colorado Christian each scoring two goals. Capri Dewing has also found the back of the net, scoring one goal. But, is leading the team in assist with three.
  • Alana Lopp has been impressive in the goal, recording a save percentage of .867 (13 saves), two goals given up and is 2-1 in games played.
ON THE FIELD NEXT
Western Colorado will hit the road for their next game on Friday, Oct. 7 taking on Westminster College at 7 p.m.
