Mountaineers defeated by Adams State

GUNNISON, Colo. Western Colorado tried to extend their winning streak to two games. However, a late goal by Adams State resulted in them coming away with a 1-0 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Things were fairly even to start as the Mountaineers had three shots to Adams State two shots – resulting in things being tied 0-0 at halftime.
  • Despite the shot total being even fore both teams in the second half, both teams having five shots apiece. The Grizzlies were able to put one of those shots into the back of the net.
  • At the 78:03 mark of the game Adams State was awarded a corner kick, which they capitalized on. Scoring on the cross by the Grizzlies attacker that found the bottom left corner of the goal.
  • Western played aggressive and had a few opportunities to score the game tying goal, Kylie Hickox having the lone shot on goal in the second half- prior to Adams State's goal. But, the Grizzlies defense held strong and was able to escape for the victory.
PITCH NOTES
  • Gracie Lyman had the other shot on goal for the Mountaineers, that shot coming in the first half.
  • Caileen Sienknecht had the most shots in the game with two. While Laura Pelino and Reece Mercer each had one apiece. In total Western had eight shots in the game two being on goal.
  • The Grizzlies had seven shots with two being on goal.
