Mountaineer Duo Earn Honorable Mention RMAC Man, Woman of Year

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.  The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference on Thursday released the names of its annual Woman and Man of the Year awards, tabbing Yasmine Hernandez of Colorado State University Pueblo and Nick Mootz of Regis University as the 2021-22 recipients.

Earning Honorable Mention honors in their respective categories were Western Colorado University's Casey Ober of women's soccer and Cade Michael of men's cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field.

Ober, an honorable mention RMAC All-Academic women's soccer honoree and tied for second on the team for goals scored in her senior season, is also a nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year award.

Michael earned All-American recognition at the NCAA Division II cross country championship meet, the RMAC men's cross country Summit Award (presented to the student-athlete with the highest grade point average competing at the conference championship event), first-team RMAC All-Academic in cross country and indoor track, and an honorable mention selection for the RMAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He also qualified for and ran in the indoor and outdoor track national meets.

CSU Pueblo's Hernandez was a member of the ThunderWolves' women's cross country and indoor and outdoor track programs, while Mootz played for Regis' men's soccer team.

The RMAC man and woman of the year awards honor graduating student-athletes who made their marks during their college careers with academic achievements, athletic excellence, community service and leadership. The awards are selected by the conference's awards committee.
