NEW ORLEANS  The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday released the final standings of the 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Jerry Baltes Program of the Year Award, showing Western Colorado's women 14th in the nation with a total of 90 points.

Eligibility for the award requires qualifying for and scoring at each of the three national championship meets—cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field—with points assigned to placings in the final standings (i.e. 1st = 1 point, 2nd = 2 pts., …, 31st = 31 pts.), then tallied with the lowest total score from the three championships determining the award winner.

Western's 90 points, just five behind 13th-place Colorado School of Mines, came from a ninth-place finish at the women's cross country championship, 20th place at the indoor track and field championship, and a 57th-place finish at the outdoor meet.

The Mountaineer women picked up five All-American certificates from the three championship meets as Allison Beasley and Katie Doucette earned All-American honors in cross country, Doucette doubled up at the indoor meet with two, then added one more at the outdoor championship.

The three Western men's programs qualified for all three national events, but did not score at the outdoor championship. Earning All-American honors in cross country, though, were Cade Michael and Michael Grabowski, with Malcom Wesley earning an All-American certificate at the indoor national meet.

The women's program of the year winner was Grand Valley State (Mich.) University with six points after finishing second at each of the three championships. The Lakers also captured the men's program of the year award, capturing the cross country and indoor championship titles and finishing third at the outdoor meet for a winning total of five points.
