ALAMOSA, Colo. Trailing 16-17 against No. 14 Adams State heading into the final match of the night, the Mountaineers needed
Sammy deSeriere to win his match in order to complete the comeback victory. DeSeriere did just that, pinning Aiden Butler with 1:23 left to go in second period, as Western finished the night 2-0. Prior to the match against Adams State, the Mountaineers defeated Simon Fraser 32-12.

MOUNTAINEERS VS SIMON FRASER (W)
- Western won seven out of the 10 duals in their first dual of the night.
- Cody Fatzinger (125) earned the first-points of the night, picking up a forfeit win. Then SFU tied things up a six-points apiece picking up a fall 2:24 into the first period.
- Dean Noble (141) tipped things back in favor of the Mountaineers earning a hard fought 5-2 decision victory.
- The most impressive victory coming at the 149-pound weight class as Jason Hanenberg pinned Ryan Hicks 48 seconds into the first period.
- Ryan Wilson (157) duplicated that success pinning his opponent with 1:42 left to go into the second period, giving the Mountaineers a 21-6 lead.
- It appeared Hunter Mullin (165) was going to run out of time, trailing 5-2. However, Mullin won in the final seconds of period three – 11 seconds remaining - earning a takedown, four-point near fall and one-point for riding time to defeat Magnus McCrackin by a 9-5 decision.
- Jimmy LaConte (174) kept the good times rolling for Western, helping them earn their fifth consecutive victory earning a 13-5 major decision victory over Patrik Leder.
- SFU won the 184-pound match via a 5-3 decision. But, the Mountaineers responded at 197 as Porter Fox picked up the second major decision victory of the night – defeating Rick Feroce 10-1.
- Simon Fraser won the final match of the night at the 285-pound weight class viz a 3-1 sudden fall victory.
MOUNTAINEERS VS ADAMS STATE (W)
- Things didn't start the way Western wanted it to, dropping their first two matches.
- After trailing 8-0 to start the dual, Noble cut the Grizzlies lead to 8-4 by earning a 13-5 major decision win over Angel Flores.
- Adams State responded, winning the 149 and 157 match by close 3-2 and 3-0 decision victories. Despite being down 14-4, the Mountaineers were still in it thanks to Mullin who picked up the much needed 7-3 decision victory over Samuel Loera.
- The Grizzlies final victory of the night came next at the 174-pound weight class via an 8-4 decision.
- Down 14-7, Western wrestled their match from there on out – winning the final three matches of the night.
- Cole Gray (184) picked up the fall victory – pinning Ben Tonnessen with 1:41 left to go in the second period. Then Porter Fox (197) wrestled hard an earned a key takedown in the third period and got one-point for riding time, as he defeated Hunter Tobiasson via an 8-5 decision.
- DeSeriere (285) was in control the entire match up holding a 8-1 lead after the first period, but decided to put the icing on the cake pinning Butler.
