Mason scores game winner on senior day

GUNNISON, Colo.  Western Colorado sent fifth year senior Alex Mason off on a strong note on senior day (Oct. 23), as it defeated Black Hills State 2-1 -– keeping its hopes of making the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament alive.

The Mountaineers will have to defeat Fort Lewis which is currently in seventh place in order to make the tournament. Western at the moment is in ninth place and the top eight teams make the tournament.

Additionally, this is the first time since the 2016 season that the Mountaineers have won six games in the season. Western also finishes the season with a .500 win percentage at home which hasn't been achieved since the 2018 season.
