GOLDEN / DENVER, Colo. Western Colorado will have to be ready to go from the very beginning on Friday (Oct. 14) and Sunday (Oct. 16) as they take on first place Regis University and second place Colorado School of Mines.
MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Coming off two tough losses against Westminster and Colorado Mesa, the Mountaineers currently are in seventh place (3-4) in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings with five games left in the season.
- Reece Mercer is the lone Mountaineer offensively to be ranked in the RMAC stats, having three assists in conference games which is fourth best. On the outside looking in Taylor Bottoms and Laura Pelino are the top goal scorers for Western each having two goals apiece.
- In the goal, Aubree Orosco is tied for second in the RMAC in shutouts with three, tied for third in saves with 31 and is sixth in save percentage .756. Additionally, she is fifth in saves per game with 4.43 per game.
RANGERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Prior to tying against CSU-Pueblo on Friday (Oct. 7) Regis was on a six-game winning streak and got back to their winning ways two days later when they beat Colorado Christian 2-0. The Rangers currently have a 7-0-1 RMAC record which has them in first place.
- Offensively they have the second-best scorer, Audrey Teague, who has found the back of the net six times this season. Kelby Kuo is also a threat having four goals – three of those being game winning (first in RMAC) - of her own, which has her tied for third-best in the RMAC.
- Goalkeeper Katelyn Martin, is one of the best in the league having the second-best goal against average of .450. She also leads the RMAC, in shutouts (four) and save percentage (.912).
OREDIGGERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Similar to the Rangers, Colorado Mines was on a three-game winning streak until they tied 2-2 against UCCS on Sunday (Oct. 9). Despite tying on Sunday, the Orediggers are currently in second-place (6-0-2) in RMAC standings.
- Reese McDermott and Jordan Barnhart are the best goal scorer's for Colorado School of Mines, each having four goals which has them tied for third-best in the RMAC. Setting up a few of those goals, Landry Corbett is tied for third in assists with three.
- Out of the three goalies the Orediggers have used this season Sadie Wolf has the most saves (seven) and has the second best save percentage of .778.
ON THE FIELD NEXT
Western Colorado will return home for their final home games of the season, taking on Metropolitan State (Oct. 20) and Black Hills State (Oct. 23).
