GUNNISON, Colo. Wrestlers from all over Colorado are going to pack Mountaineer field house this weekend, as Western Colorado prepares to host the Western Colorado Open (Jan. 7) and Tracy Borah Duals (Jan. 8), in what will be an action packed and exciting weekend.

MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND
- Last time Western stepped onto the mat (Dec. 18-19), they managed to record a 10th place finish at the Midwest Classic and had three wrestlers place in the top-10.
- Sammy deSeriere (285) was the top finisher coming in third place, winning seven out of his eight matches. Three victories came via fall, he also had a major decision, technical fall, fall, and a medical forfeit victory.
- Patrick Allis (133) and Dean Noble (141) were the final placers for the Mountaineers finishing in sixth and eighth place.
- Allis went 5-3 at the Midwest Classic, winning his first three matches – two decision and a fall victory – before losing his first match of the tournament. Allis won his next two matches via a fall and decision victory, then had to medical forfeit his consolation semifinal and fifth place match.
- Noble went 3-3, picking up a major decision and decision victory to kick things off, then suffered his first loss of the tournament in the quarterfinal. He responded with a fall victory. However, lost his next two matches to end his tournament run.
- Currently, the Mountaineers are ranked No. 21 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association regular season poll #2 and have two wrestlers ranked - Allis who is ranked No. 4 and Noble who is ranked No. 9.
ON THE MAT NEXT
The Mountaineers will be home the next time they step onto the mat, hosting Chadron State College on Thursday, Jan. 20, at 6 p.m. Â
