GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. --- The defending RMAC champion Western Colorado wrestling team kept its conference record spotless on the season as the Mountaineers defeated No. 12 San Francisco State 31-21 on Thursday at Brownson Arena.

WCU (10-5 overall, 3-0 RMAC) rushed out to a 22-0 lead within the first four matches thanks to a major decision win by No. 10
Patrick Allis at 125 pounds, back-to-back pins from
Cody Fatzinger at 133 pounds (4:16) and
Nicholas Braswell at 141 pounds (4:09) and a forfeit at 149 pounds by the Gators. For Braswell, it was his first RMAC match, win and fall.

After SFSU picked up a fall at 157 pounds,
Michael Thelen picked up the quickest fall of the match for the Mountaineers as he defeated Jeremy Huan in 1:44. No. 12
Jimmy LaConte grinded out a win over SFSU's Maleselino Salt 7-3 at 174 pounds as the lead for WCU grew to 31-9.

The Mountaineers dropped the final three matches, but still picked up their 10th dual win of the season.

The Mountaineers return home to take on No. 9 Colorado School of Mines – which is 4-0 in RMAC action – 7 p.m. Saturday at Paul Wright Gym in a battle for first place in the RMAC. The first 300 fans will receive free burritos while the WCU wrestling team will be giving out and signing their 2019-20 team schedule poster after the dual.
