Mountaineers try to keep momentum rolling, play at Fort Lewis, Adams State

GUNNISON, Colo. --- The Western Colorado women's soccer team looks to build off a pair of wins last weekend as the Mountaineers travel to take on Fort Lewis (Friday) and Adams State (Sunday) this week.
 
THE MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEK | 2019 SEASON STATS
The Mountaineers won their first two games of the season last week as they defeated CSU-Pueblo 1-0 on Friday behind a Missa Webb goal in the opening minute and 12 Kaeyla Noble saves before defeating New Mexico Highlands 3-2 in overtime on Sunday on a Megan Wheelock golden goal in the 100th minute.

In the win against CSU-Pueblo, Webb scored on assist from Andrea Grillo just 40 seconds into the match and made it stand thanks to the strong effort from Noble - who was named the RMAC Goalkeeper of the Week on Tuesday.

Against the Cowgirls, the Mountaineers trailed 1-0 and 2-1 only to come back and defeat NMHU in overtime thanks to goals from Casey Elnicki (29' - assisted by Grillo), Grillo (72' - assistey Elnicki) and Wheelock (100' - assited by Sarah Johnson) and another nine saves from Noble.

On the season, Webb leads the team with three goals while Grillo has two goals and two assists. Noble leads the RMAC in saves (87) and saves per game (7.9).

FORT LEWIS HEADING INTO THIS WEEK | 2019 SEASON STATS
The Skyhawks have gone 0-3-1 over their last two weekends and haven't scored a goal over that time, including losing 1-0 last Friday against Westminster and a 0-0 tie against Dixie State on Sunday - both games at home.

On the season Emma Patron leads the team in scoring as she has a team-best two goals to go along with being tied for the team lead with two assists with Corinne Sanderson. Six other players have one goal apiece for FLC. At keeper, Katherine Dunbain got her first start and posted a shutout against Dixie State with 11 saves while Britt Blomso started the other 11 games and owns a goals against average of 1.63.

ADAMS STATE HEADING INTO THIS WEEK | 2019 SEASON STATS
The Grizzlies have dropped five straight games after falling to Dixie State 5-0 on Friday and Westminster 3-1 on Sunday at home.

Jordyn Maes leads the Grizzlies in scoring with two goals and an assist while Zoe Moses has a goal and an assist. Cori Zaiger has played every minute at keeper for Adams State and owns a 2.50 goals against average.
