GUNNISON, Colo. – Western Colorado University hits the road for two duals against ranked opponents this weekend. The 19
th ranked Mountaineers will make a stop at 12
th ranked Fort Hays State University on Friday before continuing the trip and visiting against 18
th ranked University of Central Oklahoma on Saturday.

Western (9-3, 3-1 RMAC) is coming off a 34-12 win over Chadron State College on the road last weekend. The Mountaineers have won three of the last four duals.

Friday's dual against FHSU (1-7, 0-2 MIAA) at 5 p.m. (MST) will be the 36
th dual between the two programs. The Mountaineers hold a 26-9 series lead, and defeated the Tigers 25-18 last season.

FHSU has lost its last four duals, including three against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponents.

Saturday's dual against UCO (8-3, 2-0 MIAA) is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. (MST). The Mountaineers have faced the Bronchos 20 pervious times, with UCO winning 15. However, the Mountaineers defeated UCO last season, 26-18.

UCO enters the weekend having lost by criteria to the Colorado School of Mines in their last dual.

Leading the charge for Western this season has been
Brandon Supernaw at 174 pounds. Ranked atop his weight class, Supernaw has an 11-0 record this season. Supernaw has scored bonus points in over half his matches this season.

Supernaw could go up against one ranked opponent this weekend in FHSU's Marty Verhaeghe. Verhaeghe is ranked ninth at 174 pounds and has a 15-9 record but has lost his last two bouts by a combined score of 20-0.

Konnor Schmidt enters the weekend for Western with a 16-4 record. The junior dropped down to 184 pounds and has a 4-0 record since that time.

Schmidt's possible matchup against UCO is Heath Gray, ranked second at 184 pounds. Gray is 25-1, with his only loss of the season coming against Michael Pixley of McKendree University, ranked third in the weight class.

Another big matchup this weekend comes at 141 pounds.

Western's
Jason Hanenberg is having a stellar freshman campaign with a 15-8 record at 141 pounds. Hanenberg's possible opponent at FHSU, Brandon Ball, is currently ranked second in the weight class. The senior has a 15-0 record this season and was a Division II National Championship qualifier last season.

FHSU's Efe Osaghae is also ranked at 157 pounds.

UCO's Rio Zamaro is ranked 12
th at 133 pounds, while teammate Brik Fillipo is ranked 11
th at 149 pounds and Blake Berryhill is ranked 11
th at 285 pounds.

Making his season debut this weekend for the Mountaineers at 197 pounds is freshman
Dylan McBride.
