WREST | Tough test on the road awaits Western wrestling

GUNNISON, Colo. – Western Colorado University hits the road for two duals against ranked opponents this weekend. The 19th ranked Mountaineers will make a stop at 12th ranked Fort Hays State University on Friday before continuing the trip and visiting against 18th ranked University of Central Oklahoma on Saturday.

Western (9-3, 3-1 RMAC) is coming off a 34-12 win over Chadron State College on the road last weekend. The Mountaineers have won three of the last four duals.

Friday's dual against FHSU (1-7, 0-2 MIAA) at 5 p.m. (MST) will be the 36th dual between the two programs. The Mountaineers hold a 26-9 series lead, and defeated the Tigers 25-18 last season.

FHSU has lost its last four duals, including three against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponents.

Saturday's dual against UCO (8-3, 2-0 MIAA) is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. (MST). The Mountaineers have faced the Bronchos 20 pervious times, with UCO winning 15. However, the Mountaineers defeated UCO last season, 26-18.
