GUNNISON, Colo. – Following two matches in Nebraska to open the season, Western State Colorado University Women's Soccer will finish the non-conference schedule this weekend in Colorado. The Mountaineers face Humboldt State University on Friday at 4 p.m. and California State University East Bay at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Both matches will be played at Walker Field on the campus of Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Western (0-2, 0-0 RMAC) enters the second week of competition after falling to Concordia University, St. Paul 0-1 and Newman University 0-2 last weekend.

Mountaineer goalkeeper
Emilie Eckhart recorded 13 saves in the first two matches of the season, which leads the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Her 6.5 saves per game average is also best in the RMAC.

Ingrid Alvarez recorded one shot over the weekend, which moved her into a tie with
Francesca Rand (2014-17) for the third most career shots in school history at 78. Samantha Braun (2013-15) is second with 80 career shots.

This weekend will be the first time Western faces Humboldt State and East Bay. It will be just the third time Western has faced an opponent from California. The Mountaineers are 0-1-1 against teams from The Golden State. Both previous matches were played at a neutral site.

Western has a 5-6-1 all-time record at neutral site competitions.

HSU (1-1, 0-0 CCAA) enters the weekend having defeated Dominican University of California 1-0. Alex Jenkins scored the game winner for the Jacks in the 39
th minute.

HSU fell to Concordia University (Ore.) 0-2 in their season opener on Thursday.

CSUEB (2-0, 0-0 CCAA) have an unblemished record following their first two matches of the season. The Pioneers defeated Academy of Art 3-0 in the season opener and Fresno Pacific University 2-0 on Saturday.

Abby Buitrago leads the Pioneers with two goals scored. Both goals were the game winners in CSUEB's first two matches.

The Pioneers play Dominican on Wednesday and Colorado Mesa on Friday before facing Western on Sunday.

Following the matches against HSU and CSUEB, Western will begin conference play. The Mountaineers have a 13-match conference schedule, starting with a home matches against the Colorado School of Mines on Friday, Sept. 14 at 3 p.m. and Colorado Christian University at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16.

The match against Colorado School of Mines is Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day, while Sunday's match against Colorado Christian is a Black Out, where fans are encouraged to attend the match dressed in black.
