GUNNISON, Colo. – Western State Colorado University women's soccer embarks on a three-match road trip, beginning this Sunday in Grand Junction, Colorado. The Mountaineers face Western Slope foe Colorado Mesa University at 12 p.m. on Oct. 7 on Walker Field.

Western (2-8, 2-4 RMAC) enters the weekend after splitting two matches last weekend. The Mountaineers defeated Black Hills State University 3-1 before falling to Regis University 0-2.

With seven matches left to play in the regular season, Western is in a three-way tie for eighth in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings. The top eight teams make the RMAC Tournament at the end of the regular season. Western has seven more matches to play in 2018.

Alex Mason is leading Western in goals and points this season. Mason has two goals, both scored against BHSU, including the game winner against the Yellow Jackets.

Emilie Eckhart continues the lead the conference in saves. The senior has made 61 saves in 10 matches played this season.

CMU (3-5-2, 1-4-1 RMAC) tied BHSU 2-2 in their previous competition. The Mavericks' last win came against Colorado Christian University on Sept. 14.

Western is 2-4-2 against CMU all-time and 0-2-1 against the Mavericks in Grand Junction. CMU has won the last two matches, both by a 1-0 score.
