WSOC | Eckhart sets school record in season finale

ST. GEORGE, Utah – The 2018 season for Western Colorado University came to a close on Saturday. The Mountaineers fell in the season finale, 0-4, to Dixie State University.

The loss knocked the Mountaineers out of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament picture. Needing to make the top eight in the standings, Western (4-12-1, 4-8-1 RMAC) finished the regular season in 10th place.

The Trailblazers opened the scoring in the 34th minute. Tori Page scored her first of two goals in the match coming off a throw-in.

DSU (12-5, 8-5 RMAC) went into halftime leading 1-0, outshooting Western 15-0 in the first 45 minutes.

The Mountaineers played all-out in the second half, looking for the equalizer. However, it was DSU that would find the back of the net. The Trailblazers scored in the 60th, 66th, and 82nd minute in the second half to take a 4-0 win.

Western goalkeeper Emilie Eckhart set a new school record, making 15 saves against the Trailblazers. Eckhart held the previous record of 14 saves since 2016.
