GUNNISON, Colo. – Western Colorado University Women's Basketball will kick-off the season with an open-gym scrimmage against Western Nebraska Community College on Friday night. The scrimmage is set to begin at 7 p.m. in Paul Wright Gym.
 
Friday's scrimmage will be the first of 12 home events for the Mountaineer Women's Basketball Team this season.
 
Following Friday's scrimmage, Western plays two exhibition games against the University of Wyoming on Nov. 2 and the Air Force Academy on Nov. 6.
 
The season opener will come against Western New Mexico University on Nov. 23 at the Colorado Mesa University Holiday Inn – Airport Thanksgiving Classic.
 
Western's home opener will come against Colorado Mesa on Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. in Paul Wright Gym.
 
The Mountaineers return their top-four scorers from last season. Katie Dalton led the team, averaging 10.4 points per game, playing all 28 games last year as a true freshman.
 
Western finished last season with nine wins overall and six against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponents.
 
Friday's scrimmage is free and open to the public.
