WSOC | Mountaineers fall to Orediggers in RMAC Tournament

GOLDEN, Colo. – Western State Colorado University women's soccer's season came to an end on Tuesday night. The Mountaineers fell to the No. 18 Colorado School of Mines Orediggers 5-0 in the quarterfinals of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament.

Western (5-10-2, 4-7-1 RMAC) was unable to match CSM (15-2-1, 10-1-1 RMAC) out of the gate.

The Orediggers opened the scoring in the 28th minute and then followed with two more in the next eight minutes to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.

CSM added two more insurance goals in the second half, taking the match 5-0 and moving into the semifinals of the RMAC Tournament.

The Mountaineers end the season with four conference wins, which ties last season and the 2015 season as the most RMAC wins in program history.

The team's .521 shots on goal percentage is a new program record and their 19 goals scored ties for third best.

It was the second straight season Western was knocked out of the conference tournament by CSM. The Orediggers won last year's contest 5-1.
