WSOC | Mountaineers fall to CSU-Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. – Western State Colorado University women's soccer fell to CSU-Pueblo Thursday night on the road. The Thunderwolves defeated the Mountaineers 3-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference clash.
 
Western (4-9-2, 3-7-1 RMAC) has one match remaining in the regular season. The Mountaineers are still alive in their quest for an RMAC Tournament spot. After New Mexico Highlands University also lost on Thursday, the Mountaineers and Cowgirls are still tied for the final spot in the tournament.
 
The Mountaineers will face NMHU on Saturday in the season finale. A win will guarantee Western a conference tournament spot.
 
CSU-Pueblo (8-6-1, 7-3-1 RMAC) opened the scoring on Thursday with a goal in the 16th minute.
 
Western held-off the Thunderwolve attack and went into halftime down 0-1.
 
CSU-Pueblo would add two more goals in the second to take a 3-0 win.
 
Although currently tied for the eighth and final spot in the conference tournament, the Mountaineers have the potential to earn the seventh seed. Sitting ahead of Western is Fort Lewis College with 12 points. With a win and a loss by Fort Lewis to Colorado School of Mines, Western will earn the seventh spot in the tournament.
