GUNNISON, Colo. – Western State Colorado University women's soccer fell to Metro State University Denver on Friday in Gunnison by a score of 2-1.
 
After falling behind to MSU Denver (8-6, 7-3 RMAC) 1-0 after a goal by Reigna Banks in the 15^th minute, Western (4-7-2, 3-5-1 RMAC) went on the attack.
 
The Mountaineers found an equalizer four minutes later. Jessica Kresl took a through pass, went past a defender and scored her third goal of the year in the 19^th minute.
 
Unfortunately for the Mountaineers, the match would be tied for only one minute as MSU Denver's Elise Boisnard responded with a goal of her own in the 20^th minute.
 
Both teams were on the attack and both teams defended for the rest of the match.
 
The Mountaineers outshot the Roadrunners 7-6 in the second half, but were outshot 22-13 in the match.
 
Kresl led Western in shooting, getting five shots at the Roadrunner net.
 
Western will play their final home match of the season on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Regis University. The Mountaineers will also honor their four seniors prior to the start of Sunday's match.
