LAKEWOOD, Colo. – For the second straight game,
Sadie Stroup led the Western State Colorado University women's basketball team in scoring. Stroup scored 12 points, but the Mountaineers were unable to defeat Colorado Christian University on Friday night. Western fell to the Cougars 73-50.

Western (4-10, 3-7 RMAC) got out to a 5-0 lead to begin the game against CCU (7-8, 5-5 RMAC). However, the Cougars took the lead at the 5:30 mark of the first quarter and held it for the rest of the game.

Stroup scored all four of her field goals from beyond the arc, shooting 40 percent from three-point field goal range.

Teammate
Katie Najvar was just three points shy of a double-double. Najvar grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds for the Mountaineers, while adding seven points.

Back from injury for Western was point guard
Brianna Wilber. Wilber recorded a team-high three assists while also adding seven points.

Alex Nelson led CCU's scoring attack, netting 16 points. The Cougars' Mikala Gordon recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The Mountaineers will be back on the court Saturday in Golden, Colorado at the Colorado School of Mines.
