GUNNISON, Colo. – On Friday, Western State Colorado University headed into overtime for the third time in five matches this season. The Mountaineers were 1-0-1 in overtime matches before Friday's match against Angelo State University. However, Western was outdone in the second overtime, as the Rams took home a 2-1 victory.

Western (2-2-1, 0-0 RMAC) began the match in control, scoring their quickest goal of the season, just 6:27 into the match. For Western freshman
Andrea Grillo (Fr., Centennial, Colorado), it was her first collegiate goal. Midfielder
Ingrid Alvarez (So., Aurora, Colorado) recorded the assist, finding Grillo streaking towards the net.

ASU (4-1-1, 0-0 LSC) would respond in the 20
th minute with a goal of their own. Demi Tsambasis scored her sixth goal of the season.

The teams went into the break tied 1-1. However, Western led with five shots to ASU's three.

In the second half, the Rams took over the match, keeping the ball in Western's defensive third. Angelo would outshoot the Mountaineers 11-2 in the second half.

Despite this discrepancy, Western held firm, not allowing a goal and forcing overtime.

After a scoreless first overtime, Angelo State found the back of the next in the 107
th minute to win the match.

Friday was Western's final non-conference match of the season. The Mountaineers will play their first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match this Sunday at Black Hills State University.
