GOLDEN, Colo. – The Western State Colorado University women's soccer season came to a close Wednesday afternoon. The Mountaineers, in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament for the first time in program history, fell to the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers 5-1 in the opening round of the conference tournament.

Western (6-9-3, 4-6-2 RMAC) made the RMAC Tournament as the eighth seed, and were forced to play No. 6 Colorado School of Mines, the first seed. The Mountaineers had just upset the then third ranked Orediggers 3-2 in double overtime less than a month ago.

CSM (17-2, 10-2 RMAC) put the match out of reach early with Jaclynn Knott scoring a first half hat trick. Knott's first goal opened the scoring for either team in fifth minute.

The Orediggers' Brooke Stoermer also had a first half goal in the 21
st minute to help CSM take a 4-0 lead at halftime.

The Mountaineers broke through in the 81
st minute, converting their first penalty kick attempt of the season. Western senior
Courtnee Urrea took the kick, scoring her first goal of the season.
