SALT LAKE CITY – It was a shootout in Salt Lake City on Friday night. Western State Colorado University women's basketball forced Westminster College into overtime on the road. However, the Griffins were able to come away with a 63-57 win.

Western (4-12, 2-12 RMAC) played Westminster (7-11, 4-11 RMAC) as close as it could get on Friday night. The Mountaineers had four players score in double figures against the Griffins.

Sophomore guard
Taylor Long (So., Moreno Valley, Califronia) led the team with 12 points scored, but it was
Harlie Williams (Jr., Norwood, Colorado) who kept Western in contention in the first half, leading the team with six point through the first stanza. Williams would end the game with 11 points.

After trailing by three points through the first quarter, 13-10, the Mountaineers continued to keep it close and were down one point entering the second half, 26-25.

The close game would continue through the third quarter and with only seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Western found themselves trailing.

With 27 seconds remaining in the game Westminster went ahead by three points on two free throws. In clutch fashion, Long hit a three-pointer with 10 seconds remaining to keep Western in the game and force overtime.

However, the Griffins would come away with the win in overtime, 63-57.

The Mountaineers will continue the season against Colorado Mesa University on Saturday in Grand Junction, Colorado at 5:30 p.m.
