GUNNISON, Colo. - Western State Colorado University and Adams State University traded 12 leads in Friday night's game. Unfortunately for the Mountaineers, the Grizzlies were ahead when the final buzzer sounded. ASU won the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game 71-65 in Paul Wright Gym.
Western (3-3, 1-3 RMAC) and ASU (2-5, 1-3 RMAC) went into halftime tied at 32 points. The Mountaineers outscored the Grizzlies 18-11 in the first quarter, but ASU made their way back into the game, outscoring Western 21-14 in the second quarter.
The Mountaineers took a six point lead heading into the fourth quarter. However, with 5:56 left to play, ASU took the lead. The Grizzlies would outscore the Mountaineers 15-11 down the stretch and take the game 71-65.

Kaylynn Bush's (Fr., Beaverton, Oregon) 17 points. Teammate
Sadie Stroup (Jr., Foresthill, California) added 15 points and
Taylor Mayes (Sr., Hutchinson, Kansas) contributed 10 points and 12 rebounds for her first career double-double as a Mountaineer.
As a team, the Mountaineers outrebounded ASU 52-45. For Western, 23 of those 52 rebounds, came on the offensive end, leading to 23 second chance points.
ASU's Lena Jaycox led all scorers with 28 in the game.
Western will be back on the court Saturday, when they host Fort Lewis College at 5 p.m. in Paul Wright Gym.
