Dual Headquarters and Results

GUNNISON, Colo. - Western State Colorado University wrestling hosted the 25th Tracy Borah Duals on Saturday. The eighth ranked Mountaineers went 2-1 at the duals, defeating one Division II opponent and one Division I program.
Western began the duals against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponent California Baptist University. The Mountaineers took care of business against the Lancers, winning eight of 10 matches, including two forfeits. Western wrestlers
Trenton Piatt (Fr., Olathe, Colorado) at 125 pounds,
Corbin Bennetts (Jr., Buena Vista, Colorado) at 141 pounds,
Shawn Beiriger (RFr., Del Norte, Colorado) at 157 pounds,
Austin Harris (Jr., Windsor, Colorado) at 165 pounds, and
Sam Mangum (Sr., McAllen, Texas) at 197 pounds, all earned decisions in the dual. 285-pounder
Peter Anguiano (Sr., Elk Grove, California) earned his victory by way of a 5:59 fall.
The final score against Cal Baptist was 33-6, in favor of the Mountaineers.
Western's second dual of the day came against Division I opponent Air Force Academy. The Falcons went 3-0 at the 2015 Tracy Borah Duals and defeated Western 33-7.
Zach Shank (RSo., Olathe, Colorado) and
Kyle Piatt (Sr., Olathe, Colorado) were the only Mountaineers to get wins against Air Force. Shank earned a 1-0 decision at 133 pounds, while Piatt won 13-5, earning a major decision at 184 pounds.
In the final dual of the day, Western faced former RMAC opponent and current Division I member, Grand Canyon University.
Trenton Piatt set the tone for the dual, earning a fall 3:40 into his match at 125 pounds. Trenton's brother
Kyle Piatt earned Western's other fall against GCU, only 32 seconds into his 184-pound match.
Kyle Piatt's fall was the second fastest fall on Saturday. Shank and Bennetts both added major decisions against GCU, while Harris and
Jaden Olearnick (RSo., Eaton, Colorado) at 174 pounds each earned decisions. Western came away with a 32-12 win over the 'Lopes.
Kyle Piatt earned more team points than any other wrestler at the 2015 Tracy Borah Duals. Piatt earned a total of 16 team points.
As a team, the Mountaineers earned the second most team points (72). Air Force led the way with 116 team points.
Air Force's James Martinez was selected by the coaches as the Outstanding Wrestler of the duals.
Western will continue the season at the University of Nebraska - Kearney Midwest Duals on Jan. 17.
