DURANGO, Colo. - Playing on the road is always a tough task. Escaping a road match with a tie is usually considered a victory. For the Western State Colorado University women's soccer team, a draw was exactly what they got on the road against Fort Lewis College on Friday. The Mountaineers held the Skyhawks to a 0-0 scoreless draw, remaining unbeaten through the first seven matches of 2014.
Western's defensive records continue to mount as they have held teams scoreless in six consecutive matches. In net,
Meghan Jedrzejewski (Jr., Longmont, Colo.) picked up her sixth clean sheet and hasn't allowed an opposing goal in 602:18. That's over 10 hours of holding opponents without a goal. Jedrzejewski also had three saves in the match.
Western (4-0-3, 1-0-2 RMAC) was outshot 19-10 against Fort Lewis (2-3-2, 1-1-1 RMAC). The only period Western put more shots on FLC was in the first half of overtime, when the Mountaineers shot twice to the Skyhawks' one.
