CHADRON, Neb. - Two Mountaineers scored in double figures Saturday night, but it wasn't enough for Western State Colorado University women's basketball to defeat Chadron State College on the road. Western lost the second Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game of the season 62-75.
The first half of play was closely contended as the Mountaineers held a one-point lead with 6:23 remaining in the first stanza. CSC (1-5, 1-1 RMAC) would go on a 19-5 run to end the half ahead by 13 points, 41-28.
In the second half, Western (1-5, 0-2 RMAC) played right with the Eagles, going point for point. However, this meant that the Mountaineers were unable to cut into the CSC lead.
Jade McIntosh (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colorado) led the Mountaineers in scoring with 15 points. The only other Mountaineer to score in double figures Saturday night was
Stephanie Williams (Cerritos, California), who added 11 points.
Western will begin the home basketball season next Friday when they host New Mexico Highlands University at 5:30 p.m. in Paul Wright Gym.
