GUNNISON, Colo. - Western State Colorado University begins a crucial home stand this weekend.  The Mountaineers will face UC-Colorado Springs on Friday before hosting Colorado Christian University on Sunday in two critical Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matches.  Sunday will mark the final home match of the season for the Mountaineers.

Western (5-3-4, 2-3-3 RMAC) will be looking to pick up wins and stay in the hunt for an RMAC playoff spot.  In just the third year of the program's history, the Mountaineers have already exceeded expectations and become a contender in the highly competitive RMAC.

Friday, the Mountaineers will go up against UC-Colorado Springs (5-6, 4-4 RMAC) for the second time this season.  Western defeated the Mountain Lions 1-0 earlier this season on the road.  The Mountain Lions are coming off an 0-2 loss to Fort Lewis College.  UC-Colorado Springs currently sits tied for fifth in the RMAC.

On Sunday, Western hosts CCU (3-6-2, 0-6-1).  It will be the first time this season the Mountaineers and Cougars meet.  CCU and Western have met twice in program history, both coming last season.  The Mountaineers have earned one win and one draw against the Cougars.

CCU is coming off six straight losses and will face Metro State University Denver on Friday before traveling to Gunnison.  The Cougars are currently last in the RMAC standings.

Both matches will be played on Gateway Field and admission will be $1 for adults.
