Stephanie Gehlhausen begins her second season as Western women’s basketball’s head assistant coach during the 2017-18 season.
Gehlhausen brings a wealth of NCAA Division II knowledge to the Mountaineer program. After a playing career at the University of Southern Indiana, she has spent the past four years at USI as an assistant for the women’s basketball team.
As an assistant coach for the Screaming Eagles of USI, Gehlhausen had various responsibilities including assisting in all aspects of on-court player development, identifying and recruiting potential student athletes, developing scouting reports on opponents, organizing and co-managing summer camps, and was the video coordinator along with many other duties.
Gehlhausen played collegiate basketball at USI from 2009-11. During those two seasons, Gehlhausen was voted team captain, made the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) All-Academic team, earned the GLVC Council of Presidents’ Academic Excellence Award, and helped the Screaming Eagles to an NCAA Division II Top 15 Team GPA at 3.53.
After her playing career, Gehlhausen joined the USI women’s basketball staff as a student assistant coach before graduating Cum Laude in 2012 with a degree in kinesiology. Gehlhausen had previously played at the University of Alabama in Huntsville from 2006-09.
