Recreation Center and Fieldhouse
This is the latest rendering of the new recreation center and fieldhouse, presently under construction on the campus of Western State Colorado University.
The new building will cover over 120,000 square feet. The structure will contain a full 200 meter 8-lane track, long jump and pole vault, with three multipurpose courts in the center. Also included is a new High Altitude Performance Laboratory, 5,000 square feet of new fitness equipment and 6,000 square feet of activities and exercise rooms.
Additions to the Paul Wright Gym include new offices for track and football coaches and staff, new team rooms, and a new weight room.
Student voting and initiatives led to the inclusion of a new 3,000 square foot 54 foot tall climbing tower, a 400 square foot training foam pit with trampoline, and a hot tub addition to the existing natatorium.
Virtual Walkthroughs
This video takes you on a virtual walkthrough of the new rec center and fieldhouse. The video starts at the south entrance and goes past the climbing wall in the southeast corner. Viewers are then taken into the new workout facilities located along the east side. Proceeding through the center, the next stop on the video is the competition track in the fieldhouse portion of the building. Along the north wall will be the new athletic offices and meeting rooms for WSCU Cross Country, Track & Field and Football.
This video goes into more detail and takes you inside the state of the art athletics weight room facility, locker rooms and inside the athletic offices. From inside the athletic offices on the second floor the walkthrough takes you into the press box where it looks out into the entire fieldhouse.
