Regina Rhodes was a three-time national champion in the long- and triple-jumps and member of the basketball team, 1988-93. Rhodes won three national long- and triple-jump championships and played four years on Mountaineer basketball teams to establish herself as one of the outstanding athletic performers at Western in recent years. Even though she graduated in 1993, her school records in the long jump and 100-meter dash still stand. She won the RMAC championship in both horizontal jumps four times, both indoor and outdoors, and was the100-meter dash champion three times. In basketball, she scored 911 points in her four-year career, earning a place as number-eight in Western's all-time record book. She now teaches and publishes a newsletter for the Mulberry Street Alternative School in Statesville, North Carolina.
