Nicole Aish (known as Jefferson during her collegiate days) starred for both the Western cross country and track and field squads from 1994-99. Under head coach cross country coach Duane Vandenbusche, Aish earned four All-American honors for the Mountaineers and helped the team to three second place finishes and a third place effort during her four years. On the track, Aish won three National Championships - twice winning the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championship in the 3,000 and also won the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championship in the Mile. In her track career, Aish won nine total All-American honors and combined with cross country, finished her career with 13 All-American honors. Aish also holds the Western State record in the 800 (2:07.51) and the Indoor Mile (4:38.76).
